My father died 07-10-2005, exactly 11 years ago today. Don't worry, I won't get all mushy mushy lol, but I will draw out a lesson from his life (May God continue to rest his soul). Mr Hachibiti (dad) was a very hard working, intelligent, and disciplined man. He had a great upbringing, if I be honest with you. His mother worked for Zambian Airways at the time, and his father was a successful farmer. He never wanted for anything as far as material things, he and his brother had the best of everything. They went to the best schools, and even had the leisure of attending Birmingham University. But that wasn't the case for my mother, she came from a more subtle, humble background. That's a post for another day lol. Any who, my parents were the best example of 'opposites attract'. He was Muslim, she was Christian. He was from a well-to-do family, she wasn't. And to some extent, that affected me. I always feel like I have two side, two personalities, and two voices in my head. Neither right nor wrong, I am constantly doubting myself because of the two contrasts in my head. My mother (bless her heart) wears her heart on her sleeves, she is gentle as could be, very soft and sweet. Whereas, Daddy was never emotional, very manly, highly principled, and more on the serious side. So I find myself in the middle of those two personalities half the time, but thanks to growing up, I am finally having an identity of my own. Back to my father lol, as I mentioned earlier, he was very a disciplined man. He made it very clear that when he died, he didn't want to be burried the christian way. He wanted to be buried the muslim way. And in the Islamic culture, they don't bu

ry folks in coffins, reasons best known to themselves. "Do not bury me in a coffin" that was his dying wish. And let me tell you, knowing how stubborn and strong willed he was, when he died, coffins weren't even up for discussion. From his life, I learn that living by your principles is important. You may be gone today, but the world will always remember you by that. My internet people, I urge you today to make a standard for your life, and live by it. Don't just exist, live life.
